Bulan April lalu, Facebook mengatakan bahwa sedang mengerjakan fitur podcast yang nantinya akan terintegrasi dengan Facebook. Terbaru, mereka mengkonfirmasi bahwa layanan podcast akan hadir di Facebook mulai minggu depan, tanggal 22 Juni.
Berdasarkan laporan dari The Verge, Facebook telah mengirim email ke podcaster tentang fitur podcast yang akan hadir pada tanggal 22 Juni.
Starting June 22, 2021, Facebook will be the place where people can enjoy, discuss and share the podcasts they love with each other. To help them find your work, we can add a new tab to your Page that will feature your podcasts.
By adding your podcasts to your Page, people will be able to listen to every episode directly on Facebook. There’s no need to upload or link to anything. Your Page will be updated with your latest episodes as they become available. You can also unpublish or remove your podcast at any time.
Selain itu, Facebook juga akan merilis fitur “Clips” yang dapat membantu podcaster untuk promosi podcast mereka ke sosial media.
Banyak perusahaan teknologi yang semakin tertarik pada podcast, karena format ini menjadi semakin populer dalam beberapa tahun terakhir. Hadirnya podcast dari Facebook ini tentunya untuk bersaing dengan platform lain seperti Spotify, atau Apple Podcast.
